Tips for Cleaning your Mirrored Wardrobe Door

Posted on 10/01/2017

At Mirror Image Ltd, we have been providing fitted bedroom and office furniture to homes in the East Anglia region for over thirty years. Throughout that time, mirrored wardrobe doors have been a popular choice for our discerning customers. The house proud amongst you will want to keep your mirrors as sparklingly reflective as the day they were installed, so here are our tips for cleaning and maintaining your mirrored wardrobe door.

The Right Product

There are lots of expensive and effective products on the market for cleaning glass, but we will let you into a secret - you can get the same effect with a squirt of detergent (washing up liquid). The best way to clean a mirror to a polished streak-free finish is to apply a strongly diluted detergent (a single squirt in a bucket full of water is sufficient) to the glass and then wipe with a cloth. Less is more when it comes to detergent - an overly sudsy mixture will leave unwanted streaks.

The Right Cloth

Some people swear by newspaper but, for the best results, we recommend using a lint-free microfibre cloth.

Bonus Tip: Removing Stickers

That sticker book your child received from their doting aunt for Christmas was a great success… until they decided to stick a cartoon triceratops to the mirrored wardrobe in their bedroom. Sticker residue is basically glue. To remove, peel off as much of the sticker as possible and apply a liberal amount of furniture polish to the affected area. You will then be able to wipe away the sticker residue by scrubbing with a cloth. This technique will work on wood as well as glass.

Following these simple tips will restore your mirror to the beautifully reflective surface that it was when first installed. You’ll really notice the difference.
