5 Spring Cleaning Tips to Make Your Bedroom Spring Clean a Breeze

Posted on 30/03/2016

The clocks have gone forward, the evenings are brighter, and even Storm Katie couldn’t dampen the Bank Holiday weekend. It’s spring, and that means spring cleaning. Giving your bedroom a thorough spring clean might sound like a big task, but it doesn’t have to be. Take a look at these five spring cleaning tips and you’ll breeze right through it.

1. Motivate Yourself.

If you hate cleaning, there’s a few ways you can motivate yourself to get up and do it. Put on some music (any decent spring cleaning playlist will include Queen classic I Want to Break Free), and take a before and after photo.

2. Make Your Bed.

Strip your bed and clean everything – not just the sheets. Wash your pillows on a mild cycle, and put a couple of tennis balls in the tumble dryer to fluff them up as they dry. (You can use the same trick with your mattress cover.) Flip the mattress and dust the whole thing with baking soda to keep it smelling fresh.

3. Scrub the Floor.

For hard floors, nothing beats a mop and bucket and a good deal of elbow grease. If you’ve run out of floor cleaner, a little washing up liquid and vinegar does the job just as well. Vacuum your carpets thoroughly, moving furniture out of the way to get every patch of floor. Tape a straw to your smallest vacuum attachment if you’re having trouble reaching those small spaces. If you find any stains as you vacuum, try shaving cream. Apply it to the stained area, leave it for about half an hour, then blot it away with a dry cloth. Now there’s a spring cleaning tip that saves you a bit of money!

4. Declutter Your Wardrobe.

This might be the hardest part of your spring clean – but it’s worth it. Try organising your wardrobe by colour or type of clothing, and throw out any dodgy plastic or wire hangers. Sturdy wooden clothes hangers are the best. If your chest of drawers is overflowing, try filing your shirts vertically to give you more space and make it easier to see what you’ve got. 5. Clean up Your Computer.

Don’t forget to clean up your computer – and no, we don’t mean emptying the Recycle bin! Wipe the screen with a microfibre towel and clean those fiddly bits in between your keyboard keys with a damp cotton bud.
