Caring for Mirrors on Your Hinged Wardrobe Doors

When our mirrored hinged wardrobe doors are first installed, you’ll notice the sparkle, the extra light in the room from reflected sunshine, and the gleaming reflection in the polished glass. But over time - sooner for those of you with sticky fingered children or inquisitive canines - you might notice a few smears. Don’t panic! Follow these tips to restore your mirrors to their former glory!

1. Choose a cleaning product

To reduce the chance of leaving streaks as you clean, choose an undyed cleaning product that is free from artificial scents. You can buy a dedicated glass cleaning product, or make your own by combining equal parts white spirit vinegar and water with a tiny splash of washing up liquid.

2. Choose a cloth

For best results, use a clean microfibre cloth fresh from the packet. But you can get good results using rags, and some people swear by newspaper - if you can find one in these days of reading news on your smartphone or tablet!

3. Spot clean smears

Use a clean cloth to apply your product to any dirt or smears on the mirror. Check down low for those doggy nose and child hand prints!

4. Wipe clean vertically and horizontally

Once individual smears have been removed wipe your cloth in long vertical applications the full length of the mirror from top to bottom. Repeat this process horizontally.

5. Repeat as needed

Keep going until the entire surface of the mirror is smear and streak free. Then stand back and admire your reflection.

We recommend mirrored hinged wardrobe doors should have plenty of space to swing open. If you are looking at a tighter space - you may wish to consider our selection of sliding door wardrobes.
